  Network marketing businesses come in two types, legitimate and scams. The right home based network marketing companies can make you some nice money, but you'll have to work at it. The more you put in, the more you'll get out of it. The good thing over the past couple years is that starting a home based network marketing business is easier than because of the advent of the internet.

1. First, you need to ask yourself if your idea is legitimate or not. For MLM network marketing to work, there has to be a market for a product or else you will get burnt out, and so will your employees. Avoid opportunities that claim to make you a millionaire or have tag lines that sound too good to be true.
2. If you are selling exclusively online, then you'll need an online presence and promotional outlet. Ebay and etsy are obvious examples but ecommerce sites are better because you can directly promote them to people easier and you don't have to pay fees. Finding people to sell for you is also easier. You don't have to go out and hit the pavement like before. Money is becoming digital
3. Start out selling and recruiting for another mlm network marketer. This gives you channels of distribution as well as experience to start selling personal products. After recruiting and building a customer base, skip the middle man and jump straight to the supplier.
4. Use technology to your advantage. Get sales tools and software to help you. The great thing about a home based network marketing business is that business management software is there to help you and you do not have to be a salesman or think on your feet.
5. Try to plan your home based network business schedule so you can keep your current job until you make enough passive income to quit.
